Regulations
Article (1)
The Alexandria Mediterranean Countries Film Festival is an annual event held in Alexandria city, Egypt. It aims to spread the cinematic culture, learn about the progress made in the various branches of cinema, and to establish relations between filmmakers around the world in general, and between the Mediterranean filmmakers in particular.
Article (2)
The festival is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Governorate of Alexandria in the Arab Republic of Egypt
Article (3)
The thirty-ninth edition of the festival will be held from 5 – 10 October, 2024
Article (4)
The festival includes the following activities and programs:
Competitions (Official Section)
First: Feature Film Competition of the of the Mediterranean countries
Conditions :
The films participating in this competition must be totally or partly produced by a Mediterranean country.
Participating films must not have been commercially screened in Egypt or participated in a festival in the same city of the festival.
The films should have English subtitles, if not spoken.
Must be produced in the same or previous year.
One or two films can participate from the same country.
The film duration must be 60 minutes at least.

"Naguib Mahfouz" Best Screenplay
Omar Sharif Prize for Best Actor
"Faten Hamama" Prize for Best Actress
Jerusalem Prize for Best Artistic Achievement
Kamal Al Malakh Prize for the first or second work of the director
Noor Al Sharif Prize for Best Arabic Feature Film
Second: Short Films Competition of the of the Mediterranean countries
Conditions :
The films participating in this competition must be totally or partly produced by a Mediterranean country.
Participating films must not have been commercially screened in Egypt or participated in a festival in the same city of the festival.
The films should have English subtitles, if not spoken.
Must be produced in the same or previous year.
One or two films can participate from the same country.
The film duration must be 30 minutes at least.

Best Short Feature Film
Best Short Documentary Film Prize
Special Jury Prize (awarded to short fiction and short documentary)
"Naguib Mahfouz" Best Screenplay
Jerusalem Prize for Best Artistic Achievement
Kamal Al Malakh Prize for the first or second work of the director
Out of competition Sections:
Panorama The Guest of Honor Country (one of the Mediterranean countries).
Films participating in this event are the distinguished ones from the Mediterranean countries which have participated or won prizes in international festivals.
Special Sections
This event includes screening of films that belong to the annual theme of the festival edition.
Article (5)
First: The jury of the Long Feature Film international competition
This Jury consists of prominent international figures in the field of cinema
The Jury consists of seven members, including its president, and may include two members from Egypt, the country organizing of the festival.
The festival management only that has the right of selecting the Jury members .
No Jury member should have any relation to any of the films participating in the competition.
The Jury should not withhold any of the competition prizes.
Second: The Juries of other competitions
The management of the festival shall determine the number of members of each Jury for the other competitions of the festival and shall have the right to choose the Jury members.
Article (6)
General conditions for participation in the sections of the festival:
The festival accepts films according to the original version ( DCP or BLUE RAY, HD)
The film must be with English subtitles, if not a spoken.
Participating in the festival should be through by out the application form fully filled.
A DVD copy of the film or a preview link with promotional material, must be sent with the application form
The application form, the DVD or preview link of the film and the promotional material must be sent to the festival secretary no later than 31 August, 2023.

Promotional material:
Promotional material of the film includes:
Film synopsis in English
Film credits (director of the film, cast and crew).
Press book or promotional brochure for the film.
Stills put on a CD or flash memory for the press.
Posters for the theaters size 20 x 25 cm.
Big posters size 70 X 100 cm.
The film trailer and it must be 3 minutes max.
Article (8)
The films participating in the various sections of the festival are selected by a selection committee to preview and select films for the festival screenings. The committee is formed by the festival management including critics and filmmakers.
Article (9)
Alexandria Governorate or any of the Egyptian or foreign associations may award prizes or certificates of appreciation for the films of the festival according to their point of view. Also, Local or foreign institutions or companies may award financial prizes for any of the films participating the festival.
Article (10)
It is not permitted to withdraw any film from the festival program during its period or to screen it outside the venues of the festival.
Article (11)
The films are sent to the secretariat of the festival at the expense of the participant and returned to him by air freight at the expense of the festival within fifteen days from the end of the festival.
Article (12)
The festival provides an insurance on the film copy since its arrival at Cairo International Airport and until it is sent back to its owners.
Article (13)
Submission forms, CDs and promotional materials for the Selection Committee and final copies for the festival screening purpose must be sent to the following address:

Article (14)
This regulations document is issued in Arabic and is translated into two languages: English and French. In case of difference of interpretation, the Arabic version shall be referred to. The festival president is authorized to determine all matters that are not clear or not mentioned in this regulation.
Article (15)
Participation in the festival means the full acceptance of all the conditions contained in these regulations.
The regulations include fifteen items.
